My own private Tj

Ones roots are forever intrinsically attached to one's self. One is seen through the exterior those roots give. My roots will forever be Tijuana. It is therefore quite natural that I seek Tijuana in the time I spend on the internet. I love being tijuanense. It is being raised, born in Tj that made these roots strong, so strong that even when they were uprooted something in me never allowed for the roots to dry and brittle away in foreign lands. Somehow those roots thrive even outside Tijuas. Being on the net is perhaps how I water them and keep them as if I was there. That is why this site exist. Not only can I read, see and hear the noises of my city through this window but I also recollect its smells, food, diversion and it keeps me updated on all sorts of matter. I have been away from my city for over 20 years, some ten in California probably don't count as being away but the remaining ten do, I am in Europe, Sweden. I have long ceased trying to understand this longing and I just merely resign to the fact that I enjoy this part of day, when I am bieng informed of the daily matters of my city.

My internet alias is Julio Sueco but my real name is Julio César Martínez. I write in three languages, English, Spanish and Swedish though the impulse to write in English has faded for the time being. I hope it returns soon because I yearn to write in English again. When I write I create many things, such as short stories nicknamed as minifix, poetry, opinion, book reviews, translations, and criticism. I try and delve into identity issues though I believe that well has been dried out. I explore the tijuanense identity, at least the lot that is similar to me. I consider myself to be a tijuanense xicano. I write about my experience in Sweden and what it is to be here, in Sweden, as a tijuanense. I also explore language, spanglish and other linguistic goodies from the Southwest.

It would be a pathetic and frank lie to suggest that I don’t desire to be a writer, a public and published one in paper. But the fact of the matter is that I don’ put the energy to achieve that goal. So I write mostly because I derive pleasure in it. Mostly for me and those who regularly visit my sites or whatever curiosity brings in.

I am a teacher at a local highschool somewhere in in the Swedish Highlands. I received my education in Stockholm University
